Here is What Some of Our Troops Think of Packos

The USS Toledo Docked.

Dear friends at Tony Packo's:

I am still in Mosul, Iraq --"The most dangerous city in the world," I'm told.--and can't wait until I get back home to Gig Harbor, WA, to order more of your pickles online. As far as I know, I am the only one who loves your spicy pickles so much. I dream of going back home to be with my family, my wife, Liz, who is orginally from Toledo, same as me, and my beautiful children, ages 10, 7, and 5. My ten year old loves the pickles as well. I have to guard against him sneaking off with the jar, and I'm always wishing I had ordered more.

In the Army we are expected to run a lot, and stay in good shape. I have been in the active army and the national guard for over 20 years now. I use to attend guard drill at the Toledo armory on Secor Road, back in the 80s. I'm in my 40s now, and it is getting more difficult to keep up with the youngsters, so I was looking online the other day, looking for tips on how to stay in shape and keep running, guarding agains shin and knee problems, when I saw an article with helpful tips. Believe it or not, it said that pickle juice is an age old remedy for runners. Drink it before, during, and after running in order to help with recovery. Who knew?!!! I even asked one of our medics here, and he told me that for sure it is a secret that goes way back. He suggested that I look at Gatorade and to notice how it is high in sodium, the "secret" ingrediant that helps the body fight off the elements that cause sore muscles. Oh, if I only had a jar of pickles now.... Soon, I tell myself: Soon I will be back home, in around 60 days, and I'll order more pickles from Tony Packos!!

Tell Tony I said, Hello.

(Oh, I got promoted to Captain!)

Sincerely,
CPT Matt Baldwin

p.s. Love the newsletter too. Thanks for sending them to me.

"Tony: Thank you so much for the pickles. I received them on Father's Day. They were packed very, VERY, well and were not damaged by the long trip to Mosul, Iraq. God Bless you all! It lifted my spirits tremendously. You have no idea.

Thank you again.
Captain Matt Baldwin

"I LOVE YOU TONY PACKOS! I can say I have had dogs with Packos sauce in both Iraq and Afghanistan thanks to some awesome care packages sent by relatives. Tony Packos: A combat multiplier." Matt Cole U.S. Army
